The chopper plummeted to the ground near the Birdwood Golf Course after neighbors saw it hovering closely over houses, the Charlottesville Daily Progress reported.

A live stream of the scene posted to Facebook by the Daily Progress shows a massive gathering of police officers around the site.

Officers guarding the scene would not confirm who or what was involved, according to the Daily Progress.
