Key Words: What 145-year-old Indonesian man wants now: to die

‘What I want is to die.’

Mbah Gotho

Mbah Gotho, of Sragen in central Java, Indonesia, is purportedly 145 years old — which, according to a report by the foreign desk at the Telegraph, would make him the oldest human in recorded history. But now, with all of his grandchildren “independent,” he says he is ready to move on.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1870, according to his identity card, whose veracity, according to the Telegraph report, has not been independently verified.

Mbah Gotho is registered under his official name, Sodimejo.

Gotho has outlived all 10 of his siblings, his four wives and even his children. His nearest living relatives are grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, according to the report.
