Former House Speaker John Boehner is among the newest board members of a cannabis company — but don’t call him a pothead.

Here’s what Boehner said on CNBC Friday when asked if he uses the product he’s now signed up to help sell.

‘No! I’ve never used it. Never, ever used it. I don’t expect to.’

The Ohio Republican, who was speaker from 2011 to 2015, has joined the board of Acreage Holdings, which owns cannabis licenses in 30 states where cannabis is approved for either medical or recreational use.

Boehner tweeted that he was joining the board, since his thinking had “evolved.” He said he was convinced “de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities.”

In peculiar syntax, he told CNBC that “cigarettes and red wine are my creatures of habit.”
