In One Chart: Google details exactly when Thanksgiving traffic isn’t bad — and when ham sellers see their peak

Traffic isn’t bad for most of the day on Black Friday — and it’s almost all smooth sailing on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

That’s the suggestion from a data-driven chart put out by Google. The chart, given below, shows traffic levels during last year’s holiday weekend.

Everyone know it’s smart to avoid driving on the night before Thanksgiving if you can, but Google’s graphic underscores that point, illustrating exactly how much more people are on the move then.

Consider hitting the road on Saturday.

Alphabet Inc.-owned GOOG, -0.01% GOOGL, +0.04%  Google also has shared another chart giving the most uniquely popular U.S. internet searches during the Thanksgiving Day weekend. It’s based on last year’s data on locations that are searched for during the holiday far more than normal.

Ham shops rank No. 1 and reach their peak popularity on Wednesday, according to the chart, which is shown below.
