Charges dropped against Stormy Daniels after arrest

Charges against Stormy Daniels, the former adult film star who alleged a sexual affair with President Donald Trump, were dropped, her lawyer said Thursday.

Michael Avenatti, an attorney for Stephanie Clifford — known professionally as Stormy Daniels—tweeted that charges were dropped after being arrested while performing at a strip club for allegedly violating an Ohio law by allowing a patron to touch her.

Earlier Avenatti had said “this was a setup & politically motivated. It reeks of desperation. We will fight all bogus charges.”

A police affidavit stated that she touched both a male and female detective with her breasts, and fondled a female officer’s buttocks and breasts.

Ohio law prohibits employees who regularly appear “nude or seminude on the premises of a sexually oriented business” from touching patrons who are not family members while nude or seminude at that business.

In dropping the case, the city pointed out the statute applies to those who regularly appear.

“The Columbus Police Department has made no allegation in either their U-10-100, probable cause affadavit or in their complaint that Defendant appears at Sirens regularly.”
